When they bought the Spoleto Drive home, one of the greatest selling points to my father was the "outdoor" recreation/family room, overlooking Rustic Canyon. It housed a huge BBQ/Fireplace, covered Ping-Pong table area, dining area and wet bar.
With the nearly perfect weather (and few insects!) their Palisades Riviera home became a wonderful place to entertain friends and clients. Dad was quite proud of his canyon view, streamline-styled "rec room" which had radiant heat in the concrete slab floors (quite an innovation in the 1940's). "

The Riviera Country Club is magnificent. Cooled by coastal breezes, the Club is host to hundreds of golf and private social functions each year. There are also hotel rooms that can be rented for visiting members and guests. I attended my first prom (Paul Revere Junior High School) in one of its stunning ballrooms.

"A natural flair for marketing."
"As a child, I played in Rustic Canyon collecting pollywogs and watercress from the "creek." There were July 4th baseball games at Rustic Canyon Park (also known as The Uplifters), polo and hiking at Will Rogers State Historic Park, and body-surfing and volleyball at State Beach. |
A second-generation realtor, following Norma, K.C. was first licensed to sell real estate in 1972. She obtained her broker's license in both California and Washington States in l979.

K.C. started her real estate career in Malibu selling beachfront homes and mountain retreats. Over the years, she has sold homes and estates in the West Side of Los Angeles including Beverly Hills, Bel-Air, Westwood, Brentwood, Pacific Palisades, and Santa Monica, Venice, Marina del Rey, Mar Vista, Culver City and Westchester. However, her love of architecture and history has drawn her again and again to the estate properties of the Palisades Riviera. For example:
"In 1991, I listed a home on Amalfi Drive designed by the firm of Paul Williams F.A.I.A. in 1941. The home had been built for Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Lake ("Dagwood") and reputedly paid for by Marion Davies, a gift to her niece. Years after the sale closed, it was announced that 'Mrs. Arthur Lake' was indeed the daughter of Marion Davies and William Randolph Hearst."
To a movie buff, the past and present of this area reads like a Who's Who of the entertainment industry.
Whoopi Goldberg, Rita Moreno, Tom Hanks, Steven Spielberg, Ronald Reagan, Arnold Schwartzeneggar, Michael Keaton, Brian Grazer, David Niven, Hal Roach, Stan Laurel, Billy Dove and Gregory Peck, to name a few....
